Sites hosting iTunes Scripts

The following sites are hosting the iTunes Music Video script, the iTunes Movie Trailer script or a derivative based on them. Get a copy here. I'll also add blog postings that send a lot of traffic here. If you're hosting the script, drop me a e-mail or leave a comment.

The original post has been moved to here.

My apologies to those who linked to this page and then had it disappear since I changed the title. Aparently GoDaddy processes .php pages before mod_rewrite so I can't create RewriteRule(s) on .php files in .htaccess. It's also the reason you don't get a 404 page when the .php script is missing. Very annoying. I'll attempt to ask GoDaddy support about it, but I won't hold my breath that they'll even understand what I'm talking about.

My sugestion for anyone doing php on GoDaddy is to start off from the beginning exposing your .php files as .html or .phtml or what-have-you, always using that as your actual public links and then add something like this to your docroot .htaccess file:

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} ^(.*)\.html$
RewriteCond %1.php -f
RewriteRule ^(.*)\.html$ http://www.s-seven.net/$1.php [L]

I actually do this, but Blogger requires I put .php if I want .php files generated and since it's creating the links then I have no control over that... but at least you'd get to rewrite the request.

Patriots pull it off...

The Patriots showed up (at least for the second half), and that was enough against the Steelers. But they had me pacing around the coffee table.

Where were the Patriots?

The Patriots apparently failed to show up on Sunday dropping to 1-1. You might wonder why I seem to root for all the New England teams way out here in New Mexico. You might not wonder. If not, you can stop reading...

Both my parents and the largest part of my extended family is geographically disbursed over Maine. My father went active duty in the Army after graduating from University of Maine ('70, Baseball CF) "Fill the steins to dear old Maine..." He ended up in Air Defense at Fort Bliss, Texas where I was born. My mother also graduated from Maine ('69, Cheerleader) and spent her life as a dedicated kindergarden teacher where ever the Army happened to send us.

Dad eventually became Commanding Officer of the 2nd Battalion, 7th Air Defense Battalion (redesignated 5-52, 11th ADA) which "made history the night of January 18, 1991, when Alpha Battery, 2-7 ADA, protecting forces in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, recorded the first intercept of a ballistic missile in combat." [a Patriot Battalion, coincidence?] Unfortunately for him, he wasn't commanding the 2-7 during the war as he was having triple bypass at BAMC in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Later he commanded 1st Battalion, 56th Air Defense Artillery (6th ADA).

So being born and largely raised in El Paso (with minor sorties in Germany, New Hampshire and Alabama), I never really left the Southwest and made it my home. However, my sporting loyalties lie in New England and always will.

I know my Dad was a Patriot, now if only we could find some to actually play football...

City Of New Orleans

Wouldn't it be cool if everyone bought their favorite copy of Steve Goodman's City Of New Orleans from the iTunes Music Store? Wouldn't it also be cool if Apple donated all the sales of it to relief efforts in the Southeast? I'm not so naive to think a blog entry could make Apple do anything, but it'd sure be nice if it could...

Yes, I know it's about a train, but the train was named for a great city, and that city had great music, and even though this song might not be at all representative of Delta Blues or New Orleans Jazz, it just feels patriotic to me.

I DO recommend the following versions (in alphabetical order):

I DO NOT recommend the following version (listen at your own risk):

David Hasselhoff

You can read the lyrics at the Official Arlo Guthrie web site.
